Local Richmond business closing after 75 years

Posted

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. -- After more than 75 years of service in the community, Sanders Jewelry is going out of business from its Richmond location.

Owners Vivian and Ralph Himelick have decided to close the store in efforts of spending more time on a family farm.

"It's time to slow down a bit," Vivian said in a release.

Sanders Jewelry was established in 1941 by A.E Sanders and his wife Dorothy. Vivian and Ralph Himelick relocated the store from 713 Promenade to 831 East Main Street, where they did extensive renovations. The renovated three-story corner building caught the eye of visitors and earned the Richmond Chamber of Commerce "Community Beautification Award" in 1988.

Some of the store's jewelry will be up to 70 percent off and the sale will continue until all items are gone. Store hours are from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
