CENTERVILLE, Ind. – A man who police said fell asleep at the wheel faces several felony charges after his vehicle was found on the side of the road Thursday in Centerville, Indiana.
Indiana State Police Trooper Jacob Ridgway said he found a 2007 Ford Focus stuck in a yard on the south side of US 40, just east of Hildebrand Road.
The driver, 19-year-old Martin D. Gonzalez told Ridgway he had fallen asleep while driving and when he woke up, his car was leaving the roadway.
Soon after Ridgway suspected Gonzalez had been driving while impaired, Deputy Marsh and his K9 partner Agar arrived to assist.
The K9 found contraband and upon further search, ISP discovered a small baggie with suspected cocaine. Gonzalez was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance.
He was also charged with operating while intoxicated, operator never having received a license and minor consuming alcoholic beverage.
Gonzalez was booked into the Wayne County Jail.
