No curbside Christmas tree pickup in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS -- Now that Christmas is over, the big question is what to do with your Christmas tree. 

There will be no curbside pickup for trees in Indianapolis this year.

From now until January 31, trees can be dropped off from dusk to dawn at the following locations:

  • The south parking lot at Broad Ripple Park located at 1610 Broad Ripple Avenue 
  • The main parking lot at Ellenberger Park located at 5301 East St. Clair Street 
  • The MacAllister Center at Garfield Park located at 2432 Conservatory  Drive 
  • Near the front entrance of Gustafson Park located at 3110 Moller Road).
  • The north parking lot at Krannert Park located at 605 South High School Road 
  • The southwest side of the parking lot near the pool at Perry Park located at 451 Stop 11 Road 
  • The tennis court parking lot at Riverside Park located at 242 North Riverside Drive 
  • The soccer field parking lot at Sahm Park located at 6801 East 91st Street 
  • Northwestway Park located at 5253 West 62nd Street

In Bloomington, trees can be dropped off at all four rural recycling centers and the South Walnut recycling center. No artificial trees will be accepted, there is no need for an orange bag and you will need to take off all ornaments, lights, tinsel and artificial snow. 

In Carmel, Christmas tree pick up is included in the trash and recycling program. Christmas trees should be cut in half and laid next to the trash can. 

In Zionsville, trees may be cut in half and left curbside on regular trash collection days for customers of Ray's Trash Service from January 4th until January 15th. You can also drop off your tree at three locations. For more info, click here.

Towns that use Ray's Trash Service including Beech Grove, Coatesville, Franklin, Jamestown, Lebanon, North Salem, Pittsboro, Plainfield, Speedway, Westfield and Zionsville will collect trees from January 4th through January 15th with normal curbside trash collection. Trees larger than four feet need to be cut in half. 

In Johnson County, trees can be recycled from December 26 through January 11 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, Center Grove High School, Indiana Creek Intermediate School, and McCarty Mulch located at at 100 Bluffdale off of State Road 37 in the Center Grove area. In Hendricks County, the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District is offering free Christmas tree recycling. Trees can be recycled at the Brownsburg or Plainfield Recycling Yard Waste centers between December 17, 2015 and January 18, 2016. Facilities are open 24 hours a day. The Brownsburg Recycling Tard Waste center is located at 90 Mardale Avenue. The Plainfield facility is located at 7020 South County Road 875 East.
