INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will give his first-ever State of the City address Wednesday evening.
When he was elected, Hogsett made several promises to voters who can get an update on how developments are going across the city.
Topics he may include during his speech are public safety and reintroducing beat-style policing.
Hogsett may also address the city's financial situation, where officials are dealing with a $50 million budget deficit. In recent weeks, the administration has been working to lessen the burden of losing 1,400 jobs when Carrier moves its operations to Mexico.
City officials launched a Carrier Task Force and website to give information to those affected.
Hogsett, along with local and state leaders, led a charge to get back more than $1 million in tax benefits awarded to Carrier's parent company, United Technologies.
Hogsett will speak at 6 p.m. at the Christamore House on Indianapolis' west side. The speech is open to the public.
