What's on tap at opening day of the 160th Indiana State Fair?

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 160th Indiana State Fair, celebrating Indiana's bicentennial, gets underway Friday on the State Fairgrounds and runs through August 21.

You won't be able to take the Stair Fair Train this year, sohere are the best waysto get to the fairgrounds and information about where you can park.

Opening Day started bright and early with what was supposed to be a giant hot air balloon launch, but haze caused visibility problems. Only two balloons from the company that handled the launch went up and the rest were unfortunately scrapped.  

The GOP vice presidential nominee was in attendance at the Fair Friday morning and there was a visible increase in security due to his presence.

Governor and Mrs. Pence helped with Opening Ceremonies and then they headed to the Visit Indiana Bicentennial Pavilion for its grand opening.

Fans have been invited to search for Pokemon all day Friday and Saturday at the fair with 32 Pokestops and 4 gyms featured at the fairgrounds.  

The 8th Annual Liar's Contest is at 7 p.m. in Pioneer Village. A panel of expert storytellers will judge "lies" based on technique, story development, originality, and effectiveness. 

Wrapping up the day, 80's band Night Ranger will play a concert on the Free stage at 7:30 followed by the Light Up the Night Illuminated Tractor Parade and Hot Air Balloon Night Glow at 9 p.m. at the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand.
