CRAWFORDSVILLE — The widow of an Indiana man shot and killed by an Indiana state trooper along a highway has taken a step toward filing a civil lawsuit.
According to the Lafayette Journal and Courier Reports, Gloria Rightsell's attorney recently filed a tort claim, which is a sign she may sue over 56-year-old Glenn Rightsell's death.
Police say Indiana State Trooper, Daniel Organ, shot Rightsell on December 28 along U.S. 231, north of Crawfordsville.
Rightsell allegedly failed to follow the trooper's orders and is accused of grabbing a handgun on his waist.
The notice gives government agencies, including Indiana State Police, 90 days' notice before they can be sued.
