MADISON COUNTY — A woman died Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Madison County.

Madison County Sheriff's Department operations commander Michael Warner said in a news release the sheriff's department responded to the crash just after 8:15 a.m. at County Roads 500 North and 500 West.

A 47-year-old woman driving a Honda Civic was pronounced dead at the scene. A 61-year-old male driver of a Ford F150 was transported to Community Hospital Anderson after he was extricated from the vehicle. His condition was not available.

Warner said investigators determined the woman was driving southbound on County Road 500 West when the man failed to stop as he approached the four-way intersection with stop signs for eastbound and westbound traffic on County Road 500 North.

Warner said the crash occurred at the intersection and both vehicles traveled off the southeast corner into a yard where they struck a utility pole causing multiple power lines to fall.

The crash remains under investigation.
