SPEEDWAY -- One of the victims in a house fire in Speedway on Friday is on life support.

According to the Marion County Coroner's Office, Penny Stewart, 45, is on a ventilator, awaiting organ donation.

The fire happened near the intersection of 16th Street and Lynhurst Drive just before 3 a.m. Friday. When firefighters arrived, they found the house fully engulfed in flames.

Greg Staab, 67, was alerted to the fire by a smoke detector. He and Stewart were asleep when the fire started.

Staab was able to get out of the house. Police and fire personnel went into the house to get Stewart out.

Staab is the former race director for the Midwest TQ Racing League based in Greensburg.

The cold temperatures outside caused problems for the firefighters, making the water freeze on the ground and driveway.
