AVON, Ind. -- An elderly woman was rescued from a residential swimming pool late Saturday afternoon in Avon, Ind.

The woman, 73, was found at a residence on the 300 block of South Avon Avenue after officers were notified of an incomplete 911 call.

Officer Adam Barnhart with the Avon Police Department was searching the property when he saw a woman in the home's pool.

The woman was holding the 73-year-old in her arms, who she found not breathing and unresponsive, said Assistant Chief of Police, Brian Nugent.

CPR was done for a short time until the woman began to breathe on her own.

The victim was taken to Hendricks Regional Hospital.

Nugent said the woman "seems like she's doing OK."

No cause for this incident has been identified.
