INDIANAPOLIS — Speedway Fire Department officials rescued a woman from Eagle Creek after she was swept away by a current on Thursday morning.

According to SFD officials on the scene, a 35-year-old woman tried to cross Eagle Creek on the city's west side instead of using the bridge located at 5259 West 10th Street. Due to heavy rain, the woman quickly swept away in the current.

When officials found the woman, she was hanging by a branch. SFD was able to pull her to safety, with the assistance of the Wayne Township Fire Department.
