INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman injured in the head, possibly by a gunshot, Wednesday night on the near-south side.

The incident happened just before 9:30 p.m. on the 2000 block of Boyd Avenue.

An Indianapolis police spokesman told RTV6 a female victim in her 40's had been shot in the head and was being transported to a nearby hospital.

Officers on the scene told RTV6 the woman was walking and talking when they arrived. She was bleeding from a wound to the back of the head, and told police she'd heard a gunshot, but police on scene said it wasn't totally certain whether she had, in fact, been shot.

As of 10:00 p.m., the woman was listed in good condition at Methodist Hospital.

Police were looking for a possible second scene in the area of Iowa Street and Pleasant Run Parkway.

The incdient was the second time a woman was the victim of violence in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Shortly after 1 a.m. a woman coming home from work was shot by two men demanding money.

As of 6:20 a.m., she was reportedly at Eskenazi Hospital in good condition.
