PD: Woman found dead by road on Indy's southeast side was victim of hit-and-run

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say a woman who was found dead on the side of the road on the city's southeast side was struck by a vehicle. 

Police say the body was found in the 2200 block of National Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

EMS personnel took her to Eskenazi Health, where she was pronounced dead. She has been identified as Porshae Owens, 26, of Indianapolis. 

The Marion County Coroner's Office and investigators were able to determine that the victim had been struck and killed by a vehicle. That vehicle has not been located. 

Police say there were no witnesses.
