INDIANAPOLIS – It’s not every day you get the opportunity to float down the Indy canal in an inner tube while enjoying a wine popsicle - but this August you’ll have your chance.

On August 20, the Indianapolis Yelp community will host Cabrewing on the Canal, a 21 and over event that will allow attendees to float their way down the city’s most popular waterway.

The day will include live entertainment, drink samples and complimentary food from places like Sun King Brewery, Jack’s Donuts, Mallow Run Winery and others.

Two time slots will be available: 1-3 p.m. and 3-5 p.m.

“Yelp Indy creates more than 60 free unique experiences each year for locals to connect with local businesses and celebrate our vibrant public spaces,” said Yelp Indy Community Director Brittany Smith. “One of the highlights of my job as the Yelp Indy Community Director is seeing Hoosiers experience their backyard in new and fun ways while learning the ins and outs of local businesses.”

Although the event is free, all attendees are encouraged to make a $10 donation as money goes toward Canal Walk beautification projects.

Smith believes slots will fill up fast as only 1,000 people will be allowed per time frame.

“I'm most looking forward to seeing attendees experience the canal from a new perspective - floating along in the inner tubes provided by City Way with the city skyline in the backdrop,” said Smith. “It's quirky moments like this that remind us why Indy is such a special place to call ‘home.’”

RSVPs will open on the Indy Yelp siteJuly 24. More information can be found here.
