YORKTOWN, Ind. -- The assistant town manager for Yorktown, Ind. called a Facebook post later deleted from the Yorktown Police Department's page a 'lapse in judgment.'

The meme was posted Thursday morning after the fatal police shootings of two black men, but before five officers were shot to death in Dallas.

There was both support and outrage in reaction to the post.

Todd Blevins, Yorktown Assistant Town Manager, said the post wasn't meant to offend anyone.

"I do believe it was a lapse in judgment. I've spoken with Chief St. John and he agreed it was a lapse in judgment. It was one of those instances where the department tries to maintain a light-hearted Facebook page to try to keep their work from being too serious for everyone, but this was just one of those instances where it was misplaced," said Blevins.

The city will have a discussion on how to prevent these types of things from happening again, according to Blevins.
