INDIANAPOLIS -- After years of debate, the city of Indianapolis is one step closer to a new mass transit system.
Tuesday night, a committee of the City-County Council approved the idea to put a referendum on the November ballot
The referendum is to raise money for the expanded bus lines.
The proposal had overwhelming support with a 7-1 vote, making thousands who rely on buses every day very happy.
This debate has been going on for years, but it's still not done yet.
The proposal will head to the full council for a vote next week.
