ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- The growing town of Zionsville has another accolade to add to its wall – Consumer Affairs has ranked it the safest place in Indiana.
The state's largest town also ranked 35th safest in the nation, based on 2014 FBI crime statistics.
Last year, ADT Security ranked Zionsville the second-safest city in America.
According to crime data, the odds of a home burglary happening in Zionsville are one-in-4,200, compared to 1-in-182 nationwide.
"Zionsville cares about its appearance and keeps things nice, and it's harder to invite crime when things are nice," said Zionsville firefighter Donnie Starwalt.
Fishers and Carmel also made it into the top five safest cities in the state. Indianapolis, however, ranked near the bottom at 110 out of 112.
