LAWRENCE — A 22-year-old man was found shot to death behind a dumpster at an apartment complex in Lawrence early Wednesday morning.

Lawrence Police responded to a report of shots fired near Canterbury Apartments in the 4700 block of N. Franklin Road around 2:30 a.m.

When they arrived, police found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound behind a dumpster at the apartment complex and pronounced dead at the scene. Police have identified the victim as Aaron Grice, 22.

Police are still investigating the shooting and do not have any suspects at this time.

This is the second deadly shooting at the Canterbury Apartments in Lawrence this year. Back in June, Dalon Wilson-McIntosh, 23, and Adonai Spinks, 19, were killed in a double shooting at the complex. No arrests were ever made in that shooting but police are still searching for suspects.

Gary Woodruff with the Lawrence Police Department says they have worked seven homicide cases so far in 2018, including one where a 16-year-old was found shot to death inside her apartment.

Woodruff says the city typically sees between two and four homicides each year.

"There's no common thread between any of them, they all stand alone as their own individual investigations," Woodruff said.

Anyone with information on Wednesday's shooting or any other crime should call the Lawrence Police Department or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
