INDIANAPOLIS — New details have been released about the suspect in the murder of a woman who was found dead in a dumpster just before Christmas.
The investigation began on December 23 when police received a report of a body in a dumpster in the 300 block of Teddy Lane. A homeless woman told police she was throwing something away when she put her hand inside the suitcase and thought she felt a body. The woman inside the suitcase was identified as 27-year-old Khuang Par.
Court documents show Par had recently moved to Indianapolis after being physically assaulted by her husband, 21-year-old Peter Van Bawi Lian at their home in Colorado. Lian is on active duty in the U.S. Army.
The Marion County Prosecutor has issued a warrant for in connection to his wife's death after investigators determined he had flown to Indianapolis the day before her body was found and then flew to Thailand the following day.
Flight records show Lian flew from Colorado to Indianapolis on December 22
On December 23, flight records show that Lian flew from Chicago to Hong Kong and then boarded a flight on December 24 to Thailand.
Lian is was due back at formation on December 26. He never showed and was determined to be AWOL.
