LAWRENCE — Police have arrested a man who they believe made a series of robberies at banks in Lawrence.
Police arrested James Mason on suspicion of robbery.
According to investigators from the Lawrence Police and FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, the arrest was made thanks to the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.
These charges are in connection to the bank robberies at Chase Bank, 4202 N Franklin Road, on Nov. 29 and the Fifth Third Bank, 9025 .E 56th St., on Dec. 22.
No weapon was used during either robbery, but the suspect is said to have entered the bank and indicated threats verbally, demanding cash.
Mason has had several convictions since the mid 1990s. Including auto theft, battery and resisting law enforcement.
Final charging will be made by Marion County Prosecutor's Office.
