Trooper-involved shooting in Crawfordsville results in suspect's death

CRAWFORDSVILLE — Indiana State Police are investigating a deadly shooting after a trooper shot and killed a suspect in Montgomery County.

The shooting happened shortly after 6:30p.m. Friday evening near North Montgomery High School.

At this point it is unclear what led to the shooting. It is also not known why the trooper was in pursuit of the suspect.

According to state police, the suspect was shot once and taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

State police said they are not releasing the name of the trooper or the suspect at this time.

ISP detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are on the scene conducting an investigation.
