Subtropical Storm Andrea formed in the Atlantic basin Monday afternoon, marking the first named tropical system of the 2019 hurricane season, the National Hurricane Center announced.

As of 6:30 p.m. ET, Andrea had top winds of 40 MPH and was located 335 miles southwest of Bermuda.

The National Hurricane Center said that an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter plane confirmed winds near 40 MPH.

The forecast calls for Andrea to possibly strengthen overnight before weakening as it drifts toward Bermuda. It is not currently a threat to the United States coast.
