CDC issues E. Coli warning on romaine lettuce; almost 100,000 pounds of products recalled

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning people of E. Coli found in romaine lettuce harvested from Salinas.

They said based on new information, they are advising that people do not eat and retailers cannot sell any romaine lettuce harvested from the Salinas, California growing region.

This includes all types of romaine lettuce harvested from Salinas, California. Products such as: whole heads of romaine, hearts of romaine, and packages of precut lettuce and salad mixes which contain romaine, including baby romaine, spring mix, and Caesar salad.

According to the USDA , Missa bay, LLC is recalling approximately 97,272 pounds of salad products that contain meat or poultry because the lettuce may be contaminated with E. Coli.

The salad product items were produced from Oct. 14 - 16. Here is a full list of products that are being recalled.

The items were shipped to distribution locations in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin.

People that were infected developed diarrhea and experienced vomiting. Typically, most people recover within a week.
