SOUTH CAROLINA — A 30-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter were fatally shot in a hunting accident in South Carolina on New Year's Day.
Authorities said they were mistaken for deer.
Kim Drawdy was hunting in the woods behinds his house - woods he had hunted in many times before.
"When I got the message, I just couldn't believe it, my heart stopped when they told me it was my brother, and his daughter... You know, it was terrible," Benny Drawdy, Kim's brother said.
Family members said that his daughter was following in his footsteps, and she had just shot her first deer a few weeks ago.
"Kim was a real man, and he was a brother to me and my friend," a friend said.
The family is putting together a memorial service.
Authorities are still investigating, and autopsies are set for Sunday.
