Delta flights resume after delays due to system issues, but problems persist

Delta Air Lines flights resumed Monday morning after they were grounded for about six hours due to 'unspecified systems issues'.

Confirmation of Monday's troubles came in an official account that responds to customers via Twitter. The airline declined to immediately comment by phone.

"Delta has experienced a computer outage that has affected flights scheduled for this morning," the company tweeted to customers affected by delays. "Flights awaiting departure are currently delayed. Flights enroute are operating normally. We appreciate your patience."

Several applications were affected, including the company's website, starting around 2:30 Monday morning.

Flights resumed around 8:30 a.m.

Even though flights have resumed, it's best to check first before heading to the airport just in case. Many flights were significantly delayed or outright canceled as a result of the country-wide issues. We've heard reports of delays due to manual hand-checks of boarding passes because of the system outage and planes sitting on the tarmac for several hours.

If you were scheduled to fly on Delta and your flight was canceled or significantly delayed, you may be entitled to a refund or a one-time change without a fee.
