INDIANAPOLIS — A recent study found that people carrying student loan debt would do just about anything to make it go away — that includes spending an entire week in jail.
The study, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Splash Financial, surveyed 1,000 undergraduate and 1,000 postgarduate degree holders.
According to the New York Post, the study found that 89% of undergraduate and postgraduate degree holders view their debt as a financial burden.
The survey asked graduates how they felt about their student debt, what financial impossibilities exist because of their student debt, what sacrifices they've made because of their student debt and what they would be willing to do to erase their student debt.
Of those surveyed, 39% said they would spend a week in jail, 51% said they'd shave their head and 40% said they would relive high school all over again.
Many graduates also say buying a house, going on vacation and getting married are all things they've put off because of their student debt.
