Is Black Friday actually the busiest shopping day of 2019?

Thanksgiving weekend will mark five of the 10 projected busiest shopping days of the year, marking a critical period for retailers throughout the nation.

According to RetaileMeNot data, Friday will mark the busiest day for retailers in 2019. It will be followed by Cyber Monday, which is the second-busiest day of the year. Saturday, Nov. 30 is predicted to be the third-busiest day of the year.

Once a quiet retail day, Thanksgiving is projected to be the ninth-busiest shopping day of the year. Thanksgiving Sunday is projected to No. 7.

Here is the breakdown of the 10 projected top selling days of 2019:

  1. Black Friday
  2. Cyber Monday
  3. Saturday, Nov. 30
  4. Saturday, Dec. 7
  5. Saturday, Dec. 21
  6. Saturday, Dec. 14
  7. Sunday, Dec. 1
  8. Sunday, Dec. 22
  9. Thanksgiving
  10. Sunday, Dec. 15

And despite the rise in online shopping, 71% of consumers are expected to shop at big box scores (such as Walmart and Target) this holiday season, according to RetailMeNot. Nearly 54% are expected to shop through e-commerce, 50% at department stores, 35% at online only retailers and 27% at clothing only retailers.
