An East Tennessee father got upset after he says a restaurant served his young children alcohol.

Scottie Barnett said he took his three children – ages 9, 10 and 11 – to an Applebee's in Johnson City.

The children ordered root beer to drink; however, Barnett said they were given bottles labeled Not Your Father's Root Beer, which has six percent alcohol.

"I immediately told my kids to stop drinking the alcoholic beverage and brought it to her attention,” Barnett said. “And she said 'no, no, it's root beer'. I said 'no it's not'. And so she grabs one of the bottles and she goes to the back of the bottle."

Barnett said his 9-year-old was taken to the hospital for stomach pains, but was expected to be okay.

An Applebee's spokesman said the server who provided the drinks has been suspended. The restaurant also said the employees will receive new training.
