One person was killed and at least 12 others were injured in a shooting at a Kroger in Collierville, Tennessee, which is just outside of Memphis.

Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said in a press briefing Thursday that the suspected shooter, a male, is dead of what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dale added that there are no known additional threats.

The shooting began at 1:30 CDT, according to Lane. He said the response was almost immediate.

While responding to the shooting, Lane said officers found one person hiding on the roof and others inside the store.

"They found people hiding in freezers, in offices," Lane said.

Lane said the suspect's vehicle is still in the grocery store parking lot and is being investigated. Bomb technicians were called to secure the vehicle out of an abundance of caution, but Dale wouldn't say whether anything of significance was found.

A worker at the Collierville Kroger told commercialappeal.com that she heard what sounded like a gunshot, and ran out of the store.

"I left my purse, my keys, everything," Glenda McDonald told the news outlet.

A spokesperson for Kroger said counseling is being made available for all workers.

She added that the store would be closed until further notice.
