The Federal Aviation Administration is hiring for about 1,400 entry-level air traffic controller positions. The jobs will be posted online from August 8-15, according to the FAA.
The specific job title is air traffic control specialist - trainee, according to USAJobs.gov. This specific position has a salary range of $22,888 to $28,626 per year but with enough training and experience, advancing through the ranks in this career path can be lucrative.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean annual salary of an air traffic controller was $118,740 in 2015. The median hourly wage was $59.11.
Competition for the jobs will likely be stiff. The FAA expects more than 25,000 applications for the open positions.
