Law enforcement officials have confirmed that Omar Mateen texted with his wife and posted on Facebook in the midst of his rampage that left 49 innocent people dead at an Orlando nightclub on Sunday.

According to CNN, Mateen texted his wife, Noor Salman between 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. while holding hostages in the club’s bathroom. He reportedly asked Salman if she had seen the news. After she responded “No?” he sent her a text saying that he loved her.

Salman also tried numerous times to call Mateen.

The shooter also posted on Facebook before and during his shooting spree, according to CNN, calling on the United States and Russia to stop bombing the Islamic State, and warning that the terror group will attack on American soil.

Mateen was killed in a shootout at 4 a.m. after police breached the bathroom walls.

Salman has become a person of interest in the case in the days following the massacre. Earlier on Thursday, sources confirmed to CNN that a grand jury would investigate whether to charge Salman. She’s given conflicting interviews to investigators throughout the week as to how much she knew about her husband’s desire to carry out a jihadist attack.
