Despite 2017 being dubbed the year of the "Retail Apocalypse," a number of America's largest retailers say they plan on filling thousands of positions heading into the holiday season.

JCPenney, Macy's, Target and Kohl's are among retailers looking to add employees for the holidays. In addition, delivery service UPS is looking to hire 95,000 employees, with thehopes of turning some seasonal employees into permanent positions.

Here is a look at companies adding staff:

Target

Target said in September that it plans on adding 100,000 seasonal employees in time for the holiday rush at its stores, and 4,500 at its distribution centers.

This weekend, Target is hosting job fairs at its stores. The seasonal hiring events are on Friday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time at every Target store. Target said it plans on making conditional offers at its job fairs.
