What to expect: Donald Trump's RNC speech

Hours before Donald Trump's Republican National Convention acceptance speech, Politico obtained a copy of Trump's speech, which is scheduled to be delivered after 10 p.m. ET Thursday.

A common theme in Trump's speech is expected to be on criminal justice. Trump is promising to end crime and violence as soon as he takes the oath of office in Jan. 20, 2017. He is expected to claim that the Barack Obama administration has not been enforcing laws, and Trump will be the president to enforce laws.

The draft of Trump's speech has yet to be delivered, and Trump is known for not using or altering prepared remarks.

But the theme of tonight's speech is clear.

"I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end," said an excerpt of Trump's speech.

Trump is also expected to tie crime in America to illegal immigration.

Hillary Clinton and her email controversy has been a theme of this year's convention, as chants of "lock her up" have reverberated through the RNC. Trump's not expected to claim Clinton is a criminal, but will make numerous references to her work as Secretary of State.

"Libya was cooperating. Egypt was peaceful. Iraq was seeing a reduction in violence. Iran was being choked by sanctions. Syria was under control. After four years of Hillary Clinton, what do we have? ISIS has spread across the region, and the world. Libya is in ruins, and our Ambassador and his staff were left helpless to die at the hands of savage killers. Egypt was turned over to the radical Muslim brotherhood, forcing the military to retake control. Iraq is in chaos," Trump is expected to say in the speech.

Another thing to expect: An instant response from Clinton. She has been tweeting during the RNC, and it is easy to expect her to refute claims made by Trump during tonight's speech.
