INDIANAPOLIS -- With incumbent Congressman Todd Rokita seeking a seat in the U.S. Senate, voters will head to the polls to choose a new representative in the 4th Congressional District.

13 candidates, seven Republicans and six Democrats, are vying for the seat that encompasses large parts of 16 counties in western and northwestern Indiana.

Voters we spoke with at the Mayberry Cafe in Danville say there isn't one single they'll be voting on. There are several.

"We need jobs. Yeah, we need jobs here in Indiana to stay," said Tracie Deal, Danville.

"We need to address that our city is losing a lot of companies. A lot of stores are closing in our area," said Linda Smith, Lafayette.

"With our education system, I think they need to pay attention to how the kids are learning. They have a lot of core curriculum that is just horrible," said Peggy Koelling, Danville.

"One thing I feel very strongly about is illegal immigrants, and I think we have a real problem in this country," said Sharon Mariga, Danville.

"They need to get out and see the voters more and pay attention to what their issues are. Get out and hold town meetings so they're directly involved," said Juanita Snodgrass, Danville.

The race is unique according to Wabash College Associate Professor of Political Science, Shamira Gilbman.

"It's the first time in a while that the incumbent isn't running for re-election, so I think there's a competitive field on both sides of the race," said Gilbman.

She says this is the first year that she's seen so many Republicans running for nomination in the 4th District.

Democrats vying for the 4th District include: Tobi Beck, Veronikka Ziol, Roger Day, Roland Ellis, Darin Patrick Griesey, and Joseph Mackey.

The Republicans are: Jim Baird, Steve Braun, Kevin Grant, Diego Morales, James Nease, Tim Radice and Jared Guy Thomas.
