INDIANAPOLIS -- U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will visit three schools in Indiana on Friday as part of her “Rethink School” tour, according to Department of Education sources.

The trip is part of Devos’ nationwide back-to-school focused tour to highlight creative practices in education.

Other stops for DeVos this week include Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Wyoming.

DeVos was appointed as U.S. Education Secretary in January by President Trump. Before that, she was an advocate for school choice programs to give students and parents an alternative to traditional public and school education.

DeVos’ Friday Schedule:

  • Gary:  21st Century Chart School at 11 a.m.
  • Indianapolis: Hope Academy at 4 p.m.
  • Charlottesville: Eastern Hancock Jr./Sr. High School for a hog roast and football game at 6:30 p.m.

During her last visit to Indianapolis, DeVos advocated for school choice programs at the American Federation for Children dinner.
