INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana lawmakers are considering a bill that would make it a crime for businesses to sell products like synthetic urine that could be used to fake a drug test.
Representative Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) said his measure is necessary to help employers weed out workers who have drug problems. It is already illegal to use an “adulterant” to pass a drug test, but there is no law against the sale of such products.
The bill would make knowingly selling those products a misdemeanor.
The bill was up for testimony on Monday, but the vote was postponed so committee members could make changes to it.
