INDIANAPOLIS - With the heated election and ongoing concerns about safety of voters, some polling places are taking some extra measures to ensure that you’re safe while voting.
In Indianapolis, 30 public schools serve five polling locations. IPS administrators decided over the summer to cancel classes on November 8, to help minimize security concerns related to the number of voters walking through schools.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say they do not have any plans for additional security at the polls on election day. But Sergeant Kendale Adams said an internal plan has been created, and a special group is in place, to respond to any incidents that may arise at polling places around the city.
Adams said that group has received special training.
The Hamilton County Elections Administrator said they are not planning for any additional security on election day.
