INDIANAPOLIS -- President Donald Trump attacked Rexnord, a company with a plant in Indianapolis, on Twitter Sunday evening.

In October, Rexnord announced it would move the entire production line out of the state, with about 50 office jobs remaining in Indianapolis. The jobs would go to Texas and Mexico.

At 6:58 p.m., Trump tweeted, "Rexnord of Indiana made a deal during the Obama Administration to move to Mexico. Fired their employees. Tax product big that's sold in U.S."

Trump tweeted just after NBC News aired a story on the plant.

Both city and state officials have reached out to Rexnord, hoping to do something to save the jobs. Rexnord has not responded to the officials' requests.

Gov. Eric Holcomb met with the workers in February, saying he couldn't save their jobs, but he would help them find new ones.

Trump has tweeted about Rexnord before. On Dec. 2, he tweeted, "Rexnord of Indiana is moving to Mexico and rather viciously firing all of its 300 workers. This is happening all over our country. No more!"

The plant is slated to close in June.
