INDIANAPOLIS – Sen. Joe Donnelly began his re-election campaign in Indiana this week.
On Monday, he began his rally in Anderson to highlight some of his accomplishments made while in office, such as prioritizing the fight against opioids and helping members of the military access annual mental health assessments.
He also addressed the recent violence in Charlottesville.
"Doesn't matter what race you are, doesn't matter what religion you are, doesn't matter what gender you are, because we're all red, white and blue. We are in this together as a nation,” said Donnelly.
The senator said he’s in for a “tough” race, but said he plans to visit all of Indiana’s 92 counties between this year and next year.
Over the past few weeks, several Indiana lawmakers have tossed their hats into the ring to unseat Donnelly in 2018 including: Rep. Todd Rokita, Rep. Mike Braun, Congressman Luke Messer, Kokomo attorney Mark Hurt, Atlanta businessman Terry Henderson and director of Purdue Polytecnic Andrew Takami.
