Collision shop heavily damaged in Wayne Township fire

INDIANAPOLIS — Firefighters from multiple departments were called to a large fire at a collision repair shop on Tuesday.

According to a report from the Wayne Township Fire Department, firefighters were called to Salinas Collision Repair, 2535 Country Club Road, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters said the fire started during a welding operation inside the building and quickly spread to the attic. According to the fire department, once in the attic, the fire spread the length of the building.

In addition to Wayne Township, firefighters from Indianapolis, Speedway, and Pike Township were called to assist.

Firefighters said 10 people were working at the time of the fire, however, no injuries were reported. There were no injuries to firefighters.

The fire has been ruled accidental in nature. Fire investigators are working to identify damaged property and vehicles. The building suffered heavy damage, however, there is no estimate for damage.
