Woman found deceased inside car Indy's south side being investigated as homicide

INDIANAPOLIS — Officers with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a woman was found shot and deceased inside a vehicle.

Capt. Wheeler with IMPD said officers responded to the scene at 6700 Greenwich Drive, on the city's south side, on a report of a death investigation.

No information on a possible suspect has been released at this time.

The victim was later identified by the Marion County Coroner as Derisha Young, 21.

In a press release sent on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, IMPD determined this case is now being investigated as a homicide.

No additional details have been released.
