INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile is in critical condition after they were struck by a motorist while riding their bike on the city's east side Tuesday afternoon.
According to IMPD, the incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. when officers responded to a person struck by a driver at the intersection of English Avenue and South Denny Street.
When they arrived, they found the male victim injured in the street. He was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
A preliminary investigation leads crash investigators to believe the motorist involved was driving westbound on English Avenue when the juvenile on a bike unexpectedly rode out in front of the vehicle resulting in the driver hitting the victim.
It's believed the juvenile was fleeing from a dog that was chasing him when the crash occurred.
