STEUBEN COUNTY — A husband and wife from Mishawaka died Tuesday when their vehicle was struck by an Indiana State Police car on the Indiana Toll Road.

According to a release from state police, state troopers Jacob Bill and Osbaldo Regalado, both assigned to the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post, were responding to a crash in rural LaGrange County. They were traveling in the left lane after 4 p.m. when Regalado swerved to avoid slowing traffic and struck the rear of a white 2006 Ford Freestyle Limited SUV carrying Terry Lynn Wentworth, 76, and Gloria Jean Wentworth, 74, who were in the right lane.

Regalado and the Wentworths' vehicles both collided with a guardrail following the collision.

The Wentworths both died at the scene, while Regalado was transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation.
