INDIANAPOLIS — Millions of people will hit the roads this holiday weekend, so police are ramping up efforts to protect those roads for you and your family.
“We'll be out all weekend,” Senior Trooper Nick Klingkammer said.
It’s part of Operation Care, a combined accident reduction effort.
This is one of the busiest weekends for intoxicated driving.
Klingkammer says to watch for drivers that can’t hold their lane, brake when there’s no need, or speed up and slow down over and over.
IUPUI reported that 99 traffic fatalities in Indiana in 2017 involved at least one driver that was impaired on alcohol.
“The public is helping us they're some of our best ears and eyes out there,” Klingkammer said.
