INDIANAPOLIS-- Your child’s school should get its ISTEP scores this Friday. However, it’s not yet clear when those results will be released to the public.
The spring ISTEP+ results were supposed to be presented to the State Board of Education on Tuesday.
Because they weren't, the board has discussed possible penalties the state’s vendor, Pearson, could face.
According to Pearson’s contract with the state, the state is eligible for up to $50,000/day in damages for every day the results are not delivered.

The fine goes up to $150,000/day for days 6-10 and $250,000/day for every day after that, according to the contract.
The two problems involved a grade 10 mathematics graphing item and grades 3-8 and 10 document image reconciliation, according to the Indiana Department of Education.
RTV6 reached out to Pearson for a response.
“There have been no formal claims made for liquidated damages by IDOE,” said Scott Overland, spokesperson for Pearson. “As a result, Pearson cannot speculate on any potential amounts or purported calculations. Pearson is 100% focused on delivering updated reports.”
IDOE is working with the company who grades the results to reconcile the data for the impacted tests and get it delivered to the districts as soon as possible.
The Department of Education says only a small percentage of students in grades 3-8 and 10 were likely impacted by the issues.
Schools will receive their ISTEP results on Friday. However, they will have an appeals period, and therefore scores will not be made available to the public for several weeks, according to IDOE spokesperson Adam Baker.
IDOE does not have a final date when the scores will be made public.
“Once the re-score is completed, and final scores have been delivered to schools and the public, IDOE will address penalties,” said Baker.
