WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A pilot in a single-engine plane refused treatment Thursday evening after officials say he crash landed at the Purdue University Airport.

Officials with Purdue University say the pilot was the only person aboard the plane when it crashed around 5:30 p.m. The impact was hard, but officials say it only caused "minor to moderate" damage to the small plane.

The pilot refused treatment at the scene and is expected to be okay.

A university spokesperson says the plane was not part of the school's Aviation Technology Program and the pilot was not a Purdue student.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no other information has been released.
