Police find woman's body after responding to a house fire call

DEMOTTE, Ind. -- Police who were called to a possible house fire in Jasper County instead found a woman’s body.

Jasper County Sheriff Terry Risner says a man who lived at the home in rural DeMotte was taken into custody. He says the woman was a victim of a homicide Friday night.

No names or other details were released, although the sheriff is assuring residents that the community is not at risk.
