UPDATE: Brouhaud's record was expunged and cleared of his offense on April 28, 2016.

A taxi driver was fired after he was caught speeding and driving on a suspended license.

Theodore Brouhaud worked as an independent contractor for Indy Airport Taxi, 6News' Joanna Massee reported.

Tekeste Zemen, the company's manager, said he did not know Brouhaud was driving illegally because he never told him he was arrested on May 30 for driving with a suspended license.

"This is my first time learning that something happened with him," Zemen said.

Indianapolis Airport Police said they caught Broudaud driving 23 miles above the speed limit on airport property.

Zemen said Brouhaud worked as a taxi driver part-time while he went to school. He said Brouhaud did not receive any complaints during his time with the company.

"We have no knowledge of this guy driving with a suspended driver's license, and he should not have done that," Zemen said.

After learning about Brouhaud's status, Zemen checked his record and found he had accumulated 12 points on his license.

Zemen said Brouhaud had also failed to pay fines associated with speeding tickets.

Because of Brouhaud, Zemen said he would check other drivers' records to make sure they are legal.

Adam Collins, Indianapolis Department of Code Enforcement license administrator, said city officials learned that Brouhaud had a suspended driver's license after his arrest.

Currently the Bureau of Motor Vehicles does not provide alerts when taxi drivers' licenses are suspended. Collins said his department is working to improve communication between the two agencies.

"We've actually talked to the BMV to try to get access to their system so that my staff can go in on a monthly or quarterly basis, pull a certain group of the drivers and make sure that we're doing a spot check or an audit," Collins said.

Collins said his department would push to revoke Brouhaud's taxi driver's license.

"If we have anything to say about it, he won't be able to drive a taxi in Indianapolis again," Collins said.
