SEATTLE — Authorities say a customer in a Washington state convenience store shot and killed a man who attacked him and a clerk with a hatchet.
The King County sheriff's office said the 58-year-old clerk at the 7-Eleven store suffered a minor injury during Sunday's attack. The 60-year-old customer wasn't hurt.
The clerk and customer told deputies that a man wearing a mask and carrying a hatchet entered the store in the Boulevard Park community south of Seattle about 6 a.m. The man didn't say anything before swinging the hatchet at the customer and then the clerk behind the counter.
The customer pulled out his pistol and shot the man. The sheriff's office says he has a valid concealed weapon license.
Responders weren't able to revive the suspect, who died at the scene.
