Authorities say a Florida man who called 911 to say his girlfriend was having trouble breathing later admitted killing her because she called out the name of her ex-husband during sex.

Sunrise, Florida, police told local news media that 24-year-old Fidel Lopez called 911 early Sunday.

Officers responding to the apartment said they found Lopez crying in the bathroom next to 31-year-old Maria Nemeth's naked body.

Police say Lopez initially told investigators that the couple had been having sex when Nemeth went into the bathroom, vomited and collapsed.

After further questioning, Lopez revealed that he became enraged with Nemeth when she called out her ex-husband's name during sex. He said he became enraged and turned into a "monster."

According to ABC-affiliate WPLG in Miami, Lopez admitted to police he flew into a rage, shattering the apartment's sliding glass door and punching holes in the wall.

He then returned to where Nemeth was lying unconscious and "began to insert several items into (her)," including a beer bottle and a flat iron.

Lopez allegedly then told police he stuck his arm inside her vagina and anus "all the way up to his elbow." He then admitted to ripping internal tissue out of her, including intestinal matter.

Lopez said he carried Nemeth to the bathroom and put water on her face, but she wouldn't wake up. When he realized she wasn't breathing, he called 911.
