The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, says the region's tornado risk will ramp up late Monday afternoon, with the potential for strong tornadoes. Meteorologists caution there could be twisters with wind speeds above 111 mph from eastern Oklahoma to central Arkansas.

Hail 2 inches or more in diameter is possible from eastern Texas to southeastern Kansas. Other strong storms could reach as far north as Nebraska and Iowa.

About 41 million people from Houston to Sioux City, Iowa, are at risk for some type of stormy weather Monday.

A day earlier, tornadoes, hail and strong winds hit parts of Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, but no major damage was reported.
